Demonstration of Emotion and Experience

Blogger_Thomas_SMby Thomas A. Visel

Today Neuric performed its first demonstrations of its brain driving a 3D animation model, and showing the emotions of the brain in real time as it interacted with its environment. (See previous post, “Lead on, Shrek!” for the backstory.)

Responding to an earlier challenge by Activision, we developed a 3D animation model to demonstrate the emotional interaction of the brain with its environment.  We hired David Johnson, a long-time resident of Hollywood and proficient 3D modeler, to create that model.  David created a wire-frame model using the Microsoft Direct-X (9) system, defining a bone-and-skeleton cranial model with state of the art skinning and morphing. Verbs in a Hierarchy

Verb Hierarchy

by Hannah Lindsley

The most basic conceptual information we retain is arguably the position of a concept in a hierarchy relating it to all other concepts – that is, generalizations. Like we might expect, this seems to be the case with the concepts expressed as verbs as well.

For example:
1. I run at night.
2. I move at night.

Based on the information stored in the hierarchy we understand that if sentence 1 is true, that sentence 2 must also be true. This if-then relationship between different verbs is the basis for our mental hierarchies. We’re exploring different methods of hierarchical representation for our model of the brain.
